Description
The ring of forging is a magic ring in Old School RuneScape. When you wear it, smelting iron ore always works. You get an iron bar every time, with a 100% success rate. This makes it a great pick for training Smithing with iron.
A new ring has 140 charges. Each iron ore you smelt while wearing it uses one charge. When all the charges are gone, the ring crumbles to dust. The charges are tied to your account, not the ring itself. Swapping or dropping rings will not reset your count. You can right-click the ring to check how many charges are left, or break it to reset your next ring to full charges.
The ring is made by casting Lvl-3 Enchant on a ruby ring, which needs level 49 Magic. It can also be made by paying Murky Matt at the Grand Exchange 250 coins with a ruby ring. It is a free-to-play item, fits in the ring slot, and has no combat stat bonuses. Wearing Varrock armour at the Edgeville furnace gives a chance to smelt two bars at once while using the ring.
