Description

The Rune kiteshield is a large metal shield in Old School RuneScape. You need 40 Defence to wear it. It is the second best kiteshield you can smith. Only the Dragon kiteshield beats it.

This shield gives strong melee defence. It has +44 Stab, +48 Slash, +46 Crush, and +46 Ranged defence. Many tank players and void rangers use it. It gives melee defence that the Odium ward does not, even though it has a small -3 ranged attack bonus.

Players with 97 Smithing can make this shield. It takes three runite bars and a hammer at an anvil, and it gives 225 Smithing experience. Monsters with access to the rare drop table can also drop it.

With 43 Crafting, you can paint the shield at a player-owned house to make a heraldic shield. You must visit Sir Renitee first to get a crest. A painted rune kiteshield protects you in the God Wars Dungeon. Be careful, because Saradomin or Zamorak colours will make bandits attack you.
