Squid paste is a members item in Old School RuneScape. It is made by using a pestle and mortar on a raw swordtip squid or a raw jumbo squid. These squids come from lantern harpooning. Crushing a squid takes 3 ticks, which is 1.8 seconds, and you do not need any special facilities to do it.

The main use for squid paste is making haemostatic poultice. To make one, combine squid paste with an unfinished elkhorn potion. This needs level 56 and gives 27 experience. The poultice is the second to last step in making haemostatic dressings.

Squid paste is tradeable and noteable, so it is easy to buy, sell, and move around. It is not stackable and cannot be equipped. It weighs 0.3 kg.

Buying squid paste saves time for players who want to make haemostatic dressings without fishing for squids themselves. Catching raw jumbo squid needs level 69 Fishing, a harpoon, and a lantern, plus sailing out to lantern fishing spots at sea. With squid paste in hand, you can skip all of that and get right to making poultices and dressings.
