The yew shortbow is a two-handed ranged weapon in Old School RuneScape. It needs level 40 Ranged to equip and can fire arrows up to rune. The bow has a ranged attack bonus of +47. It is stronger than the maple shortbow but weaker than the magic shortbow, which makes it a solid mid-level pick for training Ranged.
Like other shortbows, it shoots fast. It fires every 2.4 seconds in Accurate and Longrange styles, and every 1.8 seconds in Rapid style. It reaches targets 7 tiles away in Accurate and Rapid styles, and 9 tiles away in Longrange style.
Players with level 65 Fletching can make this bow by using a yew shortbow (u) on a bow string. This gives 67.5 experience, or 135 total experience when made from scratch. It can also be combined with Scurrius' spine and a knife to create the bone shortbow, which needs 35 Fletching.
The yew shortbow drops from monsters like skeleton brutes, skeleton heroes, barbarian spirits, and hammerhead sharks. It can also come from medium reward caskets. At only 1.36 kg, it is a light and useful weapon for mid-level rangers.
