Description
The Abyssal bane square shield is a tier 79 melee shield in RuneScape 3. You need level 80 Defence to wear it. It is made by upgrading a bane square shield + 4 with an abyssal whip at an anvil. This takes level 80 Smithing and gives 4,000 Smithing experience.
The shield gives 375.2 armour, a 350 life points bonus, and 7.9% PvM damage reduction. It also has a special effect against abyssal demons. When an abyssal demon hits you up close, the shield deals damage back to it equal to half of your current Defence level. This works like armour spikes and does not depend on how hard the demon hits you.
The shield degrades over 50,000 charges of combat and can be repaired. A full repair costs 600,000 coins at base, and it costs less on an armour stand or whetstone. Your Smithing level lowers the repair cost by 0.5% per level with those methods.
You can augment it with an augmentor at level 16 Invention to make it a tier 80 shield that holds an armour gizmo. The base shield is members only, tradeable, and can be noted or disassembled.
