The Batwing shield is a tier 30 Magic shield in RuneScape 3. It goes in the off-hand slot and is part of the batwing robe set. You need level 30 to equip it. It is a free-to-play item, so all players can wear it.
The shield gives 90.8 armour and 3% damage reduction against monsters. It works best for mages, since it lowers Magic accuracy less than other combat styles. It is a good pick for low-level players who want extra defence while training Magic.
Players can craft the shield with a needle and thread on two batwings. This needs level 38 Crafting and gives 36 Crafting experience. It can also drop from Dagannoth Prime, and shops like Betty's Magic Emporium in Port Sarim and Zaff's Superior Spellcasting in Varrock sell it.
The shield can be disassembled for Invention. It gives 9 disassembly experience and can yield parts like cover parts, base parts, deflecting parts, strong components, and protective components. Its examine text, "Made from a bat killed one dark night," is a nod to the Batman film The Dark Knight.
