The Clockwork is a members-only Construction item in RuneScape 3. It is a small mechanism that players use to build many clockwork items. It is tradeable, noteable, and weighs 1 kg. It is not stackable or equipable.
Players normally make a Clockwork on a crafting table 2 in the workshop of a player-owned house. It takes one steel bar and level 8 Crafting, and it gives 15 Crafting experience. Buying one lets you skip that step and get straight to building.
The Clockwork is a key part in many items. It is used to make birdhouses from different log types, and oak, teak, and gilded clocks along with their flatpack versions. It is also needed for clockwork toys like the toy soldier, toy doll, toy mouse, clockwork penguin, and clockwork cat. Other items that use it include a clockwork suit, a watch, a trapdoor, a clockwork box trap, a dominarian device, and a toy war golem.
The Clockwork can also be disassembled. It gives Simple parts often, Crafted parts sometimes, and Clockwork components rarely, with a base junk chance of 98.9%. This makes it useful for players hunting Clockwork components for Invention.
