Description
The steel bar is a metal bar in RuneScape 3. It is made by smelting one iron ore and one coal in the Smithing skill. Smelting a steel bar needs level 20 Smithing. It can be done at a furnace, at the Blast Furnace, or with the Superheat Item spell.
Steel bars are useful for training Smithing. Forging a bar at an anvil gives 75 Smithing experience, plus 5.85 equipment experience. At level 21 and 23, players smelt them 25% and 50% faster. At level 27, there is a chance to get an extra bar for free.
Steel bars turn into many items. Players can smith steel weapons, armour, dart tips, and nails. At level 35 Smithing, they can make cannonballs, which is a well known money maker and training method. The bars are also used for ammunition, Construction furniture, Summoning pouches, and clockwork items.
Steel bars can also be disassembled for Invention. They give Simple parts most of the time and Crafted parts the rest of the time. A stack of steel bars saves time on mining and smelting, so players can go straight to training or crafting the items they need.
