Description

The Dinosaur scale is a members-only item in RuneScape 3. Players get these scales from Big Game Hunter dinosaurs on Anachronia. Every dinosaur there drops them, and higher level dinosaurs drop more. For example, the Pavosaurus rex and Malletops can drop 100 to 250 scales at a time.

Dinosaur scales are the key part of dinosaurhide armour. With level 93 Crafting, a needle, and dinosaur leather, players can make the full set. The body takes 5,000 scales, the chaps take 1,500, the cowl takes 1,000, and the boots and gloves take 500 each. Scales are also used to repair this armour, so it pays to keep extra on hand.

Scales have one more big use. They are needed to make the terrasaur maul, a strong two-handed weapon. This takes 2,000 scales along with a superior long bone, volcanic fragments, a tribal fin, and thread.

Dinosaur scales are tradeable, stackable, and weigh nothing, so they are easy to store in large amounts. They can also be disassembled, which most often gives Simple parts. For any player working on high-level ranged armour or the terrasaur maul, a big stack of Dinosaur scales saves many hours of hunting.
