Description
Hard leather is a Crafting material in RuneScape 3. It is made by taking a cowhide to a tanner along with a few coins. Tanners can be found in Al Kharid, Varrock, Taverley, Canifis, Prifddinas, the Ranging Guild, and the Crafting Guild. Members can also make it with the Make Leather spell at level 83 Magic, which turns 28 cowhides into hard leather in one cast.
Players use hard leather to craft hard leather armour. With a needle and thread, it can be made into a cowl and gloves at level 25 Crafting, boots at level 27, a body and chaps at level 28, and a shield at level 29. Each piece gives Crafting experience, from 21 up to 36 per item, so hard leather is a solid way to train the skill at low levels.
Hard leather can also be broken down with the Invention skill. It gives Simple parts most of the time and Crafted parts the rest of the time. Buying hard leather in bulk saves time, since players can skip tanning cowhides one by one and get straight to crafting armour and gaining experience.
