Description

The leather cowl is a head slot piece of leather armour in RuneScape 3. It is a common pick for low-level rangers who need basic protection. It has no level requirement, so any player can wear it right away.

This cowl is tier 5 Ranged tank armour. It gives 30 Armour, a 0.1% damage reduction against monsters, and a 0.1875% damage reduction in PvP. Its in-game description says it best: better than no armour.

The cowl is made from soft leather with a needle. Players with level 38 Crafting can add steel studs to turn it into a studded leather coif. It is also needed for an easy emote clue, so treasure hunters often want one on hand.

The leather cowl is tradeable, equipable, and noteable. It can be disassembled for materials like cover parts, padded parts, tensile parts, evasive components, and protective components. It also drops from many low-level enemies, such as the Gelatinous abomination and skeletons in the Lumbridge Catacombs. It is a free-to-play item, so every player can use it from the start.
