Description

Steel studs are a set of studs used to make studded leather armour in RuneScape 3. Players use one set of steel studs for each piece of studded armour they craft. Steel studs are tradeable, noteable, and free for all players to use.

You can make steel studs at an anvil with a steel bar and a hammer at level 20 Smithing. This grants 75 Smithing experience. With the right Crafting level, you can add the studs to soft leather armour. This lets you make a studded leather coif, body, gloves, boots, chaps, or shield. Crafting levels needed range from 38 for the coif to 45 for the shield.

Studded leather armour is better than plain leather armour. It requires 20 Defence to wear. This makes steel studs a handy item for training Crafting or gearing up a low level character.

Buying steel studs saves you time. You skip the smithing work and pickpocketing runs, and you can start crafting studded armour right away. Steel studs can also be disassembled, which makes them useful for players working on Invention parts.
