Description

Masterwork melee armour trim is an item in RuneScape 3. It is used to make trimmed masterwork melee armour, one of the strongest smithable melee armour sets in the game outside of Daemonheim.

You need 12 trims to upgrade a full set of masterwork armour into trimmed masterwork armour. You need 7 trims to make the masterwork Spear of Annihilation. The trim can only be added to masterwork gear that is unused or fully repaired. It cannot be added to damaged gear.

Making a trim yourself takes level 99 Smithing. Each one needs an elder rune bar, a malevolent essence, and a praesulic essence for melee. It also takes 1,000 smithing progress at an anvil or forge. Buying trims saves you all of that work and cost.

Trimmed masterwork armour needs level 92 Defence to wear. It has a strong set bonus. With all five pieces, half of the damage you take is spread out over the next 6 seconds. This makes it much easier to survive big hits at bosses and in PvP.
