Description
Mud runes are combination runes in RuneScape 3. Each mud rune counts as one water rune and one earth rune at the same time. Any spell that needs a water rune, an earth rune, or both will only use one mud rune. This saves space in your rune slots and cuts down on the runes you need to carry.
Mud runes have more uses beyond spells. You can grind them with a pestle and mortar to make ground mud runes. Ground mud runes are a key ingredient for extreme magic potions, which makes mud runes very useful for Herblore. Grinding a rune also gives 1 Herblore experience. Mud runes can activate Hunter urns too, and they are needed in the quest The Eyes of Glouphrie.
Players can craft mud runes with a Runecrafting level of 13. This is done by taking pure essence and water runes to the Earth Altar, or earth runes to the Water Altar. Buying mud runes skips the crafting work and gets them into your inventory fast. They are a smart pick for mages, potion makers, and anyone training magic in RS3.
