Description

Water runes are one of the four basic elemental runes in RuneScape 3. They power water and ice spells in the Magic skill. All players can use them, not just members.

Many spells need water runes, so it helps to keep a big stack. The Charge Water Orb spell uses the most, at 30 runes per cast. Water runes are stackable and weigh nothing, so a large pile takes up only one inventory space. They are also tradeable and are always kept outside dangerous areas on death.

Water runes have uses beyond combat. After the Dealing with Scabaras quest, players with 50 Magic and 50 Runecrafting can use water runes on a water tiara to make an enchanted water tiara. This item replaces waterskins in the desert, with three runes counting as one dose of water. Players can also disassemble water runes for Magic parts, Crafted parts, and Powerful components.

Crafting water runes takes level 5 Runecrafting at the Water altar in the Lumbridge Swamp. Buying them saves that time and effort. A stack of water runes lets players cast water and ice spells without stopping to craft or hunt for rune drops.
