Description

Opal bolts are crossbow ammo in RuneScape 3. They are bronze bolts with opal tips. You need level 10 Ranged to fire them from a crossbow. They are tier 10 gear with 96.0 ability damage and 144 accuracy damage. They are free to play, tradeable, and stackable, so they are easy to carry and use.

Players can also make these bolts with level 11 Fletching. Each opal tip added to a bronze bolt gives 1.6 Fletching experience. Once the tips are on, the bolts stay as opal bolts and cannot be changed back.

Opal bolts get better with magic. With level 4 Magic, the spell Enchant Crossbow Bolt (Opal) turns 10 bolts at a time into enchanted opal bolts. Enchanted bolts gain the Lucky Lightning effect. This gives a 5% chance to strike the target with lightning for 10% extra damage. Finishing the elite Seers' Village achievements raises that chance to 7%.

Opal bolts are a good pick for low level Ranged training. They are cheap ammo that still packs a bonus punch when enchanted, which makes early combat faster and easier.
