Description
The crossbow is a ranged weapon in RuneScape 3. It fires bolts instead of arrows and needs a certain Ranged level to wield. Crossbows come in main hand, off-hand, and two-handed types. A main hand crossbow lets a player use a shield or dual-wield with an off-hand crossbow. Most crossbows have an attack range of 7 spaces and a speed of Fastest at 2.4 seconds.
Higher level crossbows are more accurate. They can also use the full damage of higher level bolts. Dual-wielding or using a two-handed crossbow deals about 150% of the damage of a single main hand crossbow. Crossbows range from the basic bronze crossbow at level 1 up to strong picks like the rune crossbow at level 50, the Ascension crossbow at level 90, and the Blightbound crossbow at level 92.
Crossbows do more than fight. They can fire mithril grapples to reach Agility shortcuts. Players can also make metal crossbows with the Fletching skill by cutting a stock from logs, smithing the limbs, joining the parts, and adding a crossbow string. A crossbow is a solid choice for any ranged setup in RS3.
