Description
The platinum bar is a members-only Smithing item in RuneScape 3. It is made by smelting one platinum ore in a furnace at Smithing level 104. Each bar gives 33 Smithing experience. Players can also smelt it with the Superheat Item spell at Magic level 43, which adds 53 Magic experience per cast.
Platinum bars are the key material for platinum jewellery. With a dragonstone, a mould, and a furnace, players can craft platinum rings, necklaces, bracelets, amulets, and anklets. These recipes need Crafting levels from 104 to 109 and give strong Crafting experience, up to 263 XP per item. Ten platinum bars are also used with a pearlescent substrate to smith a pearlescent plate.
The bar is tradeable and noteable, and it can be stored in the metal bank. It can also be disassembled for Simple parts or Crafted parts with no junk chance. Players want platinum bars to train high-level Crafting, make top-tier jewellery, or gather Invention materials. Buying bars directly saves the time spent mining and smelting platinum ore, so players can get straight to crafting.
