Description

Softened fungal shafts are a members-only material in RuneScape 3. They are used to restore Balarak's sash brush, a special Archaeology tool. Players make them by grinding tempered fungal shafts with onyx dust in the backpack. Each batch uses 200 tempered fungal shafts and 20 onyx dust to make 20 softened fungal shafts.

Before making them, players must speak to Sharrigan with a damaged Balarak's sash brush in their backpack. Grinding needs only level 1 Herblore and takes just one game tick, which is 0.6 seconds.

The shafts are used at an Archaeologist's workbench to restore the damaged brush. This restoration needs level 103 skill and other materials, including dragon metal, carbon black, felt, and draconic energy.

Softened fungal shafts are tradeable and stackable, and they weigh nothing. The buy limit is 1,000, and the high alchemy value is 540 coins. The item was added to the game on 10 June 2024. These strands come from dried zygomite hair, which breaks down into surprisingly uniform pieces when ground. Players who want to restore Balarak's sash brush will need this material to finish the job.
