Description
Iron ore is a basic ore in RuneScape 3. Players mine it from iron rocks, which need level 10 Mining. Higher Mining levels and better pickaxes let you mine iron faster. The ore is tradeable and noteable, so it is easy to move and sell in game.
Iron ore has many uses. Smelt it into iron bars at level 10 Smithing with a furnace or the Superheat Item spell. Mix it with coal to make steel bars at level 20 Smithing. It is also a tertiary ingredient for granite crab pouches at level 16 Summoning. With Divination, you can transmute iron ore into coal or silver ore, or make iron ore itself at level 15 using flickering energy with copper or tin ore.
You can store iron ore in an ore box. An iron ore box or better holds 100 iron, and Mining levels and achievements can raise that number. The ore can also be disassembled for Simple parts under the Ores category. Buying iron ore saves time spent mining, so you can train Smithing, Summoning, or Invention right away.
