The cut sapphire can be made into sapphire jewellery. At level 56 Fletching, a sapphire can be cut into 12 sapphire bolt tips for 4 Fletching experience.
Uncut sapphires have other uses too. With level 26 Divination, you can transmute 3 uncut sapphires and 2 bright energy into 1 uncut emerald for 5.7 experience. The gem can also be disassembled for materials like clear parts, delicate parts, smooth parts, precious components, light components, and faceted components.
In the game, these gems come from mining gem rocks, cracking wall safes in the Rogues' Den, killing monsters, and rewards from Distractions and Diversions. They are also common rewards from the Gnome Restaurant minigame and Miscellania's kingdom.
