Description
The black axe is an Old School RuneScape tool used for the Woodcutting skill. You need level 11 Woodcutting to chop trees with it. You can hold it in your inventory or equip it with level 10 Attack. It chops logs about 225% as fast as a bronze axe, which is 12.5% better than a steel axe.
The black axe also works as a weapon. It gives +10 slash, +8 crush, and -2 stab attack bonuses, plus a +12 strength bonus. It attacks with slash at a speed of 5 ticks, or 3.0 seconds. Its combat styles are Chop, Hack, Smash, and Block.
Like all black equipment, this axe cannot be made with the Smithing skill. It can be combined with a Felling axe handle to make a Black felling axe, which also needs level 11 Woodcutting. The axe weighs 1.36 kg and its examine text reads "A sinister looking axe."
The black axe is a free-to-play item. It is tradeable, equipable, and noteable, but not stackable. It is a solid pick for early training in both Woodcutting and combat.
