Description

The Steel axe is a handy tool in Old School RuneScape. Players use it to cut trees for the Woodcutting skill. It can also be used as a weapon in combat. It is a step up from the Iron axe and works about 33% better when chopping logs.

You need level 6 Woodcutting to chop trees with this axe. To wield it in combat, you need level 5 Attack. In a fight, it gives a +8 Slash bonus, a +6 Crush bonus, and a +9 Strength bonus. It swings once every 3 seconds.

Players with level 31 Smithing can make a Steel axe from one Steel bar at an anvil. This gives 37.5 Smithing experience. The axe can also be bought from shops like Bob's Axes in Lumbridge. Some monsters drop it too, such as Ice Giants and Lesser Demons.

The Steel axe is tradeable and can be turned into a note for easy banking. It can also be combined with a Felling axe handle to make a Steel felling axe. This is a solid pick for new players who want to level Woodcutting faster or need a cheap early weapon.
