Description

Hammerstone hops are a farming item in Old School RuneScape. Players grow them from hammerstone seeds in a hops patch at level 4 Farming. Each patch takes 4 seeds and the crop grows in about 40 minutes. Planting gives 9 Farming XP and each harvest gives 10 XP.

The main use for hammerstone hops is brewing dwarven stout. At level 19 Cooking, 4 hops go into a batch along with buckets of water, barley malt, and ale yeast. Each brew gives 215 XP and can be made in beer glasses or in calquat kegs. Hops can also be added to a compost bin to make regular compost.

Hammerstone hops can only be gained through farming or from other players, so buying them saves time in the hops patch. A nearby farmer will watch a growing patch for one batch of marigolds, and compost lowers the chance of disease while raising yield. Magic secateurs and an attas plant can boost harvest amounts.
