Description

The iron axe is a simple tool and weapon in Old School RuneScape. It is one step above the bronze axe. You can use it to cut trees with the Woodcutting skill or swing it in combat. Its success rate for chopping a log is about 150 percent of the bronze axe rate.

The iron axe has the same level requirements as the bronze axe. That makes it the better pick for new players. It needs level 1 Attack to wield, and no Woodcutting level is needed to use it for chopping.

In combat, the iron axe gives a slash bonus of +5, a crush bonus of +3, and a strength bonus of +7. It has four attack styles: chop, hack, smash, and block. Each attack takes 3 seconds.

Players with level 16 Smithing can make an iron axe at an anvil with one iron bar. This gives 25 Smithing experience. The axe is tradeable and weighs 1.36 kg. You can also combine it with a felling axe handle to make an iron felling axe. It is a solid early tool for any new account working on Woodcutting.
