Description
Steel bolts are crossbow ammo in Old School RuneScape. They are the fourth bolt type in the game. They come after iron bolts and before mithril bolts. You can fire them from a steel crossbow or any better crossbow. They give a ranged attack bonus of +64. Steel bolts are members only. They are also stackable and tradeable, so a full stack takes just one inventory slot.
These bolts are a solid mid-level choice for Ranged training and combat. They cost less than higher tier bolts, so they work well when you need lots of ammo.
Steel bolts can also be upgraded. At Fletching level 48, you can attach red topaz bolt tips to make topaz bolts. You can also add weapon poison, weapon poison(+), or weapon poison(++) to make poisoned versions. Poisoned bolts cannot take bolt tips.
Players can make steel bolts on their own, but it takes work. It needs level 33 Smithing to make the unfinished bolts and level 46 Fletching to add feathers. Buying them ready to use skips all of that. Load up your crossbow and get right to training or fighting.
