Description

Steel studs are a smithing item in Old School RuneScape. Players make them by using a steel bar with a hammer at an anvil. This needs level 36 Smithing and gives 37.5 Smithing experience. Steel studs are a members-only item. They are tradeable and noteable, but they do not stack and cannot be worn.

The main use for steel studs is in Crafting. They upgrade leather armour into studded armour. With level 41 Crafting, players can add steel studs to a leather body to make a studded body. This gives 40 Crafting experience. With level 44 Crafting, players can add them to leather chaps to make studded chaps. This gives 42 Crafting experience.

Steel studs also drop from some skeleton enemies. The Giant skeleton in Tarn's Lair, Skeleton mages, and high-level Skeletons in Tarn's Lair can each drop 6 studs at a time at a rarity of 5 out of 128.

Steel studs are a good pick for players training Crafting or making studded gear for low-level ranged armour. They save time for anyone who does not want to smith the studs on their own.
