Marrentill tar is a members-only item in RuneScape 3. It is a thick, tar-like substance with an orange tinge. It is stackable, tradeable, and weighs nothing, so it takes up almost no space in your bank or inventory.

Hunters use marrentill tar as net trap bait for orange salamanders, which can be trapped at level 47 Hunter. It is also the ammunition for the orange salamander when the salamander is used as a ranged weapon. As ammo, it needs level 50 Ranged, works in the bolt style at tier 50, and has an ability damage of 480.

Players can make marrentill tar at level 31 Herblore. Using a clean marrentill herb on 15 swamp tars with a pestle and mortar in the inventory makes 15 tar and gives 42.5 Herblore experience. A faster method uses the Telekinetic Grind spell at level 85 Magic to make 405 tar per cast.

Buying marrentill tar in bulk saves time on herb runs and grinding. It is a smart pick for players training Hunter, using salamander weapons, or stocking up on cheap tier 50 ammo.
