Description

Harralander tar is a dark, thick, tar-like item in RuneScape 3. Players make it at level 44 Herblore by mixing one clean harralander with 15 swamp tars. This gives 15 harralander tar and 72.5 Herblore experience per herb. You need a pestle and mortar in your inventory or tool belt to crush the herb.

Harralander tar has two main uses. First, it works as bait for net traps when hunting black salamanders. Second, it is the ammo for the black salamander ranged weapon. As ammo, it needs level 70 Ranged, is tier 70, and fits in the bolt slot. It has 672 ability damage and a max hit of 1008. It has the same stats as bolt racks, and the black salamander has the same stats as Karil's crossbow. The black salamander does not degrade, but the tar cannot be picked back up after use.

Harralander tar is also a good source of Simple parts for Invention. It gives Simple parts most of the time, with a small chance of Variable components. Making the tar in the Poison Waste is also a medium Tirannwn achievement, so it helps with task completion too.
